In 1980, the now deceased husband of plaintiff-appellant instituted a personal injury action in federal court against twenty-two defendants, all of whom were alleged to be joint tort-feasors. The basis for the federal action was Mr. Bevill's exposure to asbestos products which had been mined, manufactured, sold or distributed by the named defendants.
