Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of attempted murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 9-1), aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 12-4) and armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 33A-2, 12-4(b)(1)) and sentenced to a six-year term for attempted murder, and a three-year-consecutive sentence for armed violence in the Illinois Department...
