On November 19, 1981, Ramon-Perez was indicted on a charge of passing and uttering a counterfeit Federal Reserve Note in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 472. He was arrested on November 20, 1981 and released a few days later on an unsecured bond in the amount of $5,000.
