Darnell Hunter, a longshoreman, was injured while working aboard the motor vessel FRESNO CITY in Tampa, Florida. Hunter brought this action for negligence against the shipowner, Reardon Smith Lines. The District Court for the Middle District of Florida entered judgment on a jury verdict for $157,800 in Hunter's favor.
