The People challenge the trial court's recusal of the entire Santa Clara County District Attorney's office (hereinafter DA). The recusal was ordered because of an appearance of conflict created by the fact that a deputy district attorney who was employed in that office was both a witness to, and arguably a victim of, the criminal conduct giving rise to the offenses for which defendant is being prosecuted.
