In 1971 the DeAtleys, the defendants in this action, purchased a chandelier and installed it in the dining room of their home. The chandelier, weighing approximately twenty-six pounds, was held to the ceiling by a threaded pipe that screwed into a retaining bracket that was attached to the ceiling.
