Gary C. Thompson pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of food stamps, a violation of 7 U.S.C. § 2024(b)(1). He was twenty-five years old at the time of the offense, but twenty-six when he entered the guilty plea. At sentencing, the district judge denied Thompson's request that he be sentenced pursuant to the Young Adult Offenders Act, 18 U.S.C. § 4216.
