This suit was brought by Jane D. Hoyt as "next friend and daily visitor" to Sharon L. Siebert, a patient at St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center, a nursing home. Siebert, who is 43 years old, suffered brain damage during neurosurgery in Canada in 1976 and has since that time been confined at St. Mary's.
