OPINION

CADENA, Chief Justice.

Plaintiff, Maria del Carmen Pena, filed this suit to recover damages for personal injuries resulting from an automobile accident which she alleged was approximately caused by the negligence of defendant, Arturo Garcia Cantu, who, at the time of the collision, was acting within the scope of his employment by defendant, Double "B" Distributing Company. The jury awarded plaintiff $500,000.00 and defendants appealed.
