A criminal information filed against Edward Botelho (Botelho) charged him with knowingly and wilfully striking Arthur Brunelle, who was a uniformed police officer engaged in the performance of his duties, in violation of G.L. 1956 (1969 Reenactment) § 11-5-5.1 A Superior Court jury returned a guilty verdict, and Botelho now appeals.
