Defendant, Eric Laird, was charged by bill of information with the April 22, 1981, armed robbery of Herbert Hugle, the manager of Popeye's Restaurant on the corner of N. Broad and Bienville Streets in the City of New Orleans, a violation of La.R.S. 14:64. On June 18, 1981, defendant was tried and convicted, by a jury, of the armed robbery of $735.00 from Mr. Hugle.
