Plaintiff in this case, Linda Hayes, was a teacher at the "inside school" at the State Prison of Southern Michigan (SPSM) in Jackson, Michigan, when she was assaulted and raped by an inmate of the prison in a classroom of the school. As its name implies, the "inside school" is located within SPSM; the students who attend the school are inmates of the prison. Plaintiff has brought this action...
