The State of Alaska appeals from a superior court judgment granting declaratory and injunctive relief against the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division [hereafter referred to as the "Department of Labor"]. The central issue is whether the superior court erred in declaring that the Department of Labor lacked subject matter jurisdiction to hear a purported wage claim brought against the University of Alaska.
