KRAVITCH, Circuit Judge:

Appellant, Anthony Harris, was convicted of possessing a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C.App. § 1202(a),1 which proscribes the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Harris had a history of several felony convictions. The maximum sentence under § 1202 is two years, but because of Harris' prior criminal record, the district court, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 3575(e)(1),2
