The sole issue presented by this appeal is whether or not appellant, Terry Dodson, had justifiable cause not to pay child support or communicate with his minor child for a period of one year. The trial judge found no justifiable cause existed and ruled that appellant's consent to the adoption was not required pursuant to Ark.Stat.Ann. § 56-207(a)(1) and (2) (Supp.1983), which provides:
