BROWN, J.

The defendant was found guilty by a jury of six in the Municipal Court of the City of Boston of carrying a firearm under his control in a motor vehicle without authority. See G.L.c. 269, § 10 (a). The defendant was acquitted of charges of unlawful possession of ammunition and receiving stolen property.
