On May 1, 1970, the defendants signed a promissory note for $7,500, payable in ninety days, with interest at eighteen percent per annum. The plaintiff signed the note as an accommodation party, and, when the defendants failed to pay the note off at maturity, the plaintiff was asked to, and did, pay the holder.
