After receiving a call from a concerned citizen at about 4:00 on the morning of August 9, 1981, the police found defendant slumped over the wheel of his Chevrolet Blazer vehicle. The lights were on, the engine was running and the vehicle was blocking the entrance of a private driveway. Defendant was aroused, with difficulty, and after doing very poorly in the field sobriety tests he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated...
