This litigation arises out of a contract for the sale of a motel in the Town of Jay, Essex County, entered into between Ernest and Shirley Lawas, as owners-sellers, and William and Marion Cole, as purchasers, on June 24, 1981. The agreement of sale was signed by Shirley Lawas, individually and as attorney in fact for Ernest F. Lawas, her husband, based upon a general power of attorney dated December 16, 1976.
