The Grand Jury of Jefferson County, Kentucky, on October 21, 1981, returned a four-count indictment against the appellant, George Howard Williams, charging him with one count of capital murder (KRS 507.020), two counts of robbery in the first degree (KRS 515.020), and one count of persistent felony offender in the first degree (KRS 532.080). The first and second counts were severed from the other counts. Counts three and four were tried separately...
