On June 15, 1981, the appellant, Richard Schmidt, Sr. (Schmidt), was charged in an amended complaint with the crimes of attempted murder in violation of Neb.Rev. Stat. § 28-201 (Reissue 1979) and kidnapping in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-313(1) (Reissue 1979).
