This case involves the Hawaii Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act (HUCCJA), Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) chapter 583 (1976). Defendant-father appeals the lower court's custody award of their son Andrew to plaintiff-mother.1 We generally affirm but partially reverse.
