Appellant, John David Lemire, was convicted of first-degree murder in violation of Minn.Stat. § 609.185(1) (1980) in the brutal stabbing death of 70-year-old Inga Warren. He was tried by a jury in Itasca County District Court following a change of venue from Aitkin County, found guilty, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
