The plaintiffs, Michele Whitcomb and her father, Mason Whitcomb, have appealed in this civil action from summary judgment entered in favor of the defendants, George and Janice Dancer.

Michele Whitcomb, a minor six years of age, was injured when attacked and bitten by a dog allegedly owned by the defendants. This action was commenced on her behalf by her father, Mason Whitcomb as her next friend, see 14 V.S.A. § 2657; V.R. C.P. 17(b), claiming...
