The appellant was driving an automobile when it collided head on with another vehicle, killing a passenger and seriously injuring the driver of that car. The appellant was convicted by a jury of manslaughter (Ark.Stat.Ann. § 41-1504 [Repl.1977]) and battery in the first degree (Ark.Stat.Ann. § 41-1601(c) [Repl.1977]).
