The facts relevant to this appeal are as follows. On September 28, 1977, appellant, a member of the District of Columbia Bar, was held in contempt of court by the Honorable Sylvia Bacon and fined $500 for having failed on three separate occasions to appear for scheduled court appearances. In August 1978, Judge Bacon issued an order directing appellant to show cause why he should not be held in contempt for failing to pay the $500 fine...
