Defendant, Honalton Alford, was charged by information with the offenses of attempt murder, armed violence and two counts of aggravated battery. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 33A-2, 12-4(a) and 12-4(b)(1).) After a bench trial, he was found not guilty of attempt murder and armed violence, but guilty of the two counts of aggravated
