At 3:30 A.M. on April 15, 1980, two men entered a Hess gas station in the Town of Vestal. One of the men pointed what appeared to be a pistol at the station attendant and demanded money, while the other ripped out the cord of the public telephone outside the station office. When the station attendant produced only about $50 and affirmed that this was all the cash available, the man holding the gun stated, "I was just kidding, forget it ever happened", and the two men departed...
