A switchblade knife is a large jackknife that snaps open when a release button on the handle is pressed. The carrying of such a knife, concealed in whole or part, is a misdemeanor under Mississippi law, punishable on the first conviction by fine or imprisonment in the county jail, or both, Mississippi Code, 1972, Section 97-37-1.
