The defendants in these two cases are charged with conspiracy to commit arson in connection with the March 1, 1975 fire at plant No. 4 of the Grand Sheet Metal Company, known as the Sponge Rubber Factory, in Shelton. The facts concerning the fire itself are discussed in State v. Just, 185 Conn. 339, 340-43, 441 A.2d 98 (1981), and United States v. Bubar, 567 F.2d 192
