Hurie Jones, a black male, was employed as a school teacher by the Orleans Parish School Board in 1966. He was granted tenure in 1969. At his request, he was given a leave of absence without pay from August, 1972, until January, 1974. He returned to teaching until June, 1974, when he requested another leave of absence.
