This action brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire grew out of a series of escalating confrontations between defendant/appellee Hewitt and plaintiffs/appellants, the Keelers. Over the weekend of July 14-15, 1979, Jeffrey Keeler and Donna Lewis, now Jeffrey's wife, were staying with his parents, Duane and Norma, at their vacation home on Bear Island in Lake Winnipesaukee...
