On 22 April 1981, King Properties, Inc. filed a petition in bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. The bankruptcy petition indicated that the firm of Marks, Stokes & Harrison would be counsel for King Properties, the debtor in possession.
