HUGHES, Justice.

This is an appeal from two convictions under separate indictments alleging two briberies occurring on different dates. The appellant, Curtis Garrett, was alleged to have conferred benefits upon an investigator, Don Evans, in return for Evans' cooperation and protection in relation to appellant's illegal gambling activities.
