Appellant Joseph Albert Encinas and codefendant Darrick L. Gerlaugh were convicted of first degree murder, A.R.S. § 13-1105, armed robbery, A.R.S. § 13-1904, and kidnapping, A.R.S. § 13-1304. The trial court sentenced appellant to life imprisonment without possibility of parole for twenty-five years on the murder charge, A.R.S. § 13-703, and twenty-one years each on the other charges, A.R.S. §§ 13-701, -702...
