BRONSON, J.

Defendant was charged in the Detroit Recorder's Court with second-degree murder. MCL 750.317; MSA 28.549. Following a bench trial, defendant was convicted of manslaughter. MCL 750.321; MSA 28.553. He was sentenced to serve a term of imprisonment of from 6 to 15 years, and now appeals as of right.

On April 6, 1980, at about 5:25 a.m., the decedent, Ronald Black, entered an Onassis Coney Island restaurant in Detroit. He was accompanied by two companions...
