The defendant in this appeal was charged with the crimes of sexual assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-70, and unlawful restraint in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-95. The defendant was tried to a jury and was acquitted on the unlawful restraint charge at the conclusion of the state's case.
