Defendant was charged by information with the offense of theft (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 16-1(a)(1)), which was a Class 4 felony because the information also alleged previous theft convictions (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 16-1(e)(1)). The trial court entered judgment on the defendant's guilty plea and sentenced the defendant...
