After a joint trial, a jury found appellant Darrick Leonard Gerlaugh and codefendant Joseph Albert Encinas1 guilty of first-degree murder, A.R.S. § 13-1105, armed robbery, A.R.S. § 13-1904, and kidnapping, A.R.S. § 13-1304. The trial court sentenced appellant to a term of 21 years each on the armed robbery and kidnapping offenses to run concurrently. These sentences were to run consecutively with a 35 years...
