After a trial before a jury in the Superior Court, Ceria was convicted on four indictments charging him with the knife point assault and rape of two women. Prior to trial, he moved to suppress the victims' identifications on the grounds (1) that his arrest on unrelated charges which led to the identifications was not based on probable cause; (2) that his arrest was merely a pretext for obtaining his photograph...
