This case is a consolidation of five appeals from the defendants' jury convictions, of mail fraud and extortion.

The appellants herein whose cases were joined for trial, were charged with violating 18 U.S.C. § 1341 (mail fraud) and 18 U.S.C. § 1951 (extortion and attempting extortion), for their involvement in a scheme to defraud the City of Chicago and its Police...
