The defendant, Thomas Lowdins, was charged by a grand jury with crime of second degree murder, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. He was tried before a twelve-person jury which found him guilty as charged. The court then sentenced him to serve life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
