This case involves a subrogated claim by the German underwriter (Gerling-Konzern), suing in the name of its insured, to recover monies paid out for the value of steel products lost on an ocean voyage from Georgetown, South Carolina, to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The cargo was lost at sea on October 6, 1974, when the barge carrying the cargo, the RMC 100, owned by the defendant Raw Materials Corporation...
