Following a jury trial Wehling was convicted on twenty four counts of making false claims to a federal agency, HEW, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 287; twelve counts of converting HEW funds to his own use in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 641; and one count of conspiracy to commit those offenses in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371. He was acquitted on one count of obstructing justice...
