Mary Heard was charged by bill of information with the June 21, 1979, armed robbery of Gail Benton, a teller at the Baton Rouge Bank. Originally charged with Mary Heard were Robert Brown, who was found guilty as charged at a separate trial, and Jeffrey Hamilton, who was allowed to plead guilty to a charge of accessory after the fact. A jury found the defendant guilty of attempted armed robbery, and she was sentenced...
