Pope, Jr. pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute, in violation of La.R.S. 40:967 and was sentenced to serve six years at hard labor. Defendant has appealed this sentence, asserting that it is unconstitutionally excessive.
