Between 1970 and 1973, ten plaintiffs filed eight suits against appellee Shell Oil Company, alleging that Shell had discriminated against them in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., and 42 U.S.C. § 1981.
