This cause came before the court for trial on the merits of plaintiffs' race discrimination claims. Jurisdiction of this cause exists under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e, et seq. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charge which forms the basis of this suit was initially filed by the American Federation of Teachers on June 29, 1973.
