The petitioner, Karen Lee Hennessy, was found guilty of assault and battery on a police officer. On October 30, 1980, she was sentenced to the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Framingham (M.C.I., Framingham) for a term of two years, one year to be served and the remainder suspended with probation to October 28, 1983. She began to serve her sentence on October 30, 1980.
