Defendant, James Newsome, was charged by information with three counts of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 9-1), one count of armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 18-2), and two counts of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 33A-2). A jury found him guilty of murder, armed robbery and armed violence. He was sentenced by the trial court to life imprisonment...
